Review / Book Claims Technology Is The Root Of All Evil
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page essay on Jerry Mander's 'In The Absence of The Scared' -- a book that blames technology for many of society's modern-day problems. From listing the pollution and health-related aspects of computers, their overly quick-paced rate of change, and warping of our personal mental conception abilities to scrutinizing corporate behavior and socio-economical politics, the book paints a somewhat morbid picture of a cluttered and quite sloppy world which we have created through technology. Mander is particularly interested in the nature-conscious culture of Native Indians and urges us to follow their vanishing model. No other sources cited.
